Privacy policy

Pantry Roulette is made by Gadzook Labs ("we"). It turns the ingredients you have into recipes. This policy explains what information the app uses, why, and what happens to it. In short: we don't ask for your name or email, we don't sell anything about you, and your photos aren't kept.
What you send us
- Ingredients and choices. When you make a recipe, the app sends your ingredient list, cuisine, style, chef, servings and dietary needs to our server so a recipe can be written.
- Photos. If you scan a photo, it's shrunk on your phone and sent to our server only to identify the ingredients in it. We don't store your photos. They're discarded once the ingredient list is returned.
How recipes are made
Our server sends your ingredients, choices and any photo to Anthropic, the company that makes the Claude AI model, which writes the recipe or reads the photo. Anthropic processes this data on our behalf under its commercial terms. You can read Anthropic's privacy policy at anthropic.com/legal/privacy.
Subscriptions
Purchases are handled entirely by Apple. We never see your name, Apple ID, or payment details. To confirm you're subscribed, the app sends us a signed record from the App Store that includes a transaction ID, the plan, and when it renews or expires. We use the transaction ID to apply the daily fair-use limit (10 recipes and 10 photo scans a day). These daily counts are kept in temporary memory and reset every day.
What stays on your phone
Your Cookbook, shopping list, preferences and timers are stored only on your device. We don't receive or back them up. Deleting the app deletes them.
What our server records
- For each recipe or scan: the time, the type of request, the AI model used, and its size and cost. This doesn't include your ingredients or photos.
- Your IP address, briefly and only in memory, to stop people from overloading the service.
- Our hosting provider may keep standard technical logs, such as IP addresses and request times, for security and reliability.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or rent your information.
- We don't use advertising or tracking SDKs, and we don't track you across other apps or websites.
- We don't require an account.
Children
Pantry Roulette isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top and, for significant changes, mention it in the app.
